However, the serious development of the first hybrid cars was made by Victor Wouk in 60-70 years of 20th century. The first hybrid car was released by Toyota in 1998 named Toyota Prius Hybrid.

Toyota takes the first place in the number of hybrids and actively produces hybrid cars since 1997. Concern produces hybrid cars of Prius series, SUVs (Lexus RX400h) and luxury hybrid cars (Lexus LS 600h).
